Squash NSW would like to provide an update on the status of the reopening of sport based on recent government announcements.

As of Monday 11 October, when 70% double vaccination target (aged 16 and over) is reached Squash Clubs/Centres can reopen for those who are double vaccinated. Normal protocols will apply including QR codes upon entry, verification of double vaccination, wearing of face masks unless on court and adherence of the 4sqm distancing rule. Clubs/Centres can undertake squad training and internal competitions with a maximum of 20 players.

The NSW Government announced on Monday morning (27 September) community sport will recommence when the 80 per cent double vaccination target has been met.

From the Monday after NSW hits the 80 per cent (aged 16 and over) double dose vaccination target, anticipated to occur from around 25 October, eased restrictions will allow those who are fully vaccinated to have up to 10 people visit their home, participate in community sport, and access hospitality venues (where drinking while standing up will be allowed indoors). All premises will operate at 1 person per 4sqm indoors, and 1 person per 2sqm outdoors.

In addition to this, it is anticipated that community sport will open for all, vaccinated or not, on or around 1 December with 1 person per 2sqm indoors.

Over the coming weeks, NSW Health and the Office of Sport will work with the sports sector to finalise the details and requirements for the recommencement of community sport.

We appreciate there will be questions regarding any restrictions that will be in place, and we will provide more clarity as soon as it becomes available.
